Pakora –

This dish is native to the Indian state Uttar Pradesh and was popular amongst me and my friends. It is a fried snack or fritter and can be made from vegetables, cheese or chicken (there are other options). This tasty treat was a lovely snack or lunch for us, we tended to get the paneer pakora which is the cheese option. There is a light spice to the batter, giving it some extra flavour. Definitely one to try!

Thali –

A Thali is an Indian cuisine made up of different foods, breads and other dishes served on a platter. The variety of options gives you plenty to choose from so even if you don’t particularly like one, you will most likely find something you enjoy. The platter can be made up of different dishes, but it mostly consists of different rice dishes, curries or lentil dishes served in small bowls on the platter. At this restaurant we were also served a roti which is similar to a poppadom. This is a delicious option and great for trying a variety of different foods all in one go.

Aloo Gobi –

This is a vegetarian curry with the main ingredients being cauliflower, potatoes and all those traditional Indian spices you’ll find in all of the food there. This dish is not only delicious but really filling and hearty. It is perfect if you decide to go veggie (if you aren’t already) whilst you are out there as so many people do. It has a kick of spice, however, if you really don’t want it too spicy you can always ask for a milder version.

Chole Bhature –

This is an extremely tasty dish made up of spiced, curried chickpeas. It's typically served with a fried flour bread. This was one of my favourites and is served as breakfast, however our delicate British belly’s tended to want a less flavourful start to the day and we usually had this around lunchtime or in the afternoon.

Dosa –

This was definitely another favourite from our time in India and the amount of different flavours and ingredients you can choose from means you don’t really get bored of it. It is a type of pancake made from a fermented batter with its main ingredients being rice and black gram. I first went for a coconut dosa which was obviously one of the sweeter options. The second time we got this dish I went for an onion dosa which was definitely my favourite as it had a little more flavour. It is often served with some sides to dip it in, these can be all sorts of curries or gravy’s, sambar (a vegetable based stew or chowder) or chutney.
