1.Bunk Stay – Rishikesh

The people working at Bunk Stay will do anything they can to make your experience the best it can be. They do daily trips down to the beach where they will take you down on their mopeds and on certain days they will take you to a temple where you can explore and look around. The rooms are extremely clean – recommend getting air con. Bunk Stay also provide a free breakfast that includes a bowl of fruit, porridge and toast with a cup of tea. Alternatively, you can get curries, pancakes, milkshakes and much more for a small price. The hostel is all about getting together and meeting new people, they host sing along’s on the rooftop and even cooked us up some food whilst everyone got to know each other.

2. Zostel - JaipurThis is a well-known branch of hostels that you can find across India and it has got its popular reputation for good reason. There are constantly people cleaning so you can be certain it is squeaky clean. There is a large communal area with lots of seating where people usually sat around and played board games and planned their next trip. Breakfast is available for 100 rupees which is equivalent to just over £1, or you can buy your own food and cook for yourself. This was without a doubt one of our favourite hostels to stay in whilst we travelled around India as it was very reliable and can be found in most places we went to.

3. Stops - Delhi

If you’re an animal lover you will appreciate this hostel as much as we did. They have two dogs that usually snooze in the reception for the entire day, as well as a couple of cats that roam around. The staff are extremely friendly and went out of their way to help us find our way around the hectic city that is Delhi. There’s a free buffet breakfast where you can get toast, eggs, cereal or you can buy your own ingredients and use the kitchen to cook for yourself if you prefer.

4. Red Door - Anjuna, Goa

Centred in a prime location this hostel would be great if you don’t go in monsoon season like we did. However despite the dull weather we really enjoyed our time at Red Door after it was recommended to us initially. The hostel is really clean and spacious with an open communal area with TV. The hostel has a bar just outside in their outdoor area that is open in the high season which we heard great things about. Mopeds are also accessible just round the corner for a small price so you can explore Anjuna.

5. Hostel La Vie - Jodhpur

The large rooftop terrace is one of the best features of Hostel La Vie and has surrounding views of the whole of Jodhpur and the fort is right in front of you. They offer a free breakfast of fruit, porridge, toast and chai or alternatively they have a menu available where pasta, curries and other foods are on offer for a reasonable price. This hostel definitely wasn’t as busy and lively as the others but we found it a relaxing break from the bustling city. Its location is perfect and so many shops and restaurants are within a short walking distance and the train station is just a short tuk tuk ride away.
