SPF

SPF is extremely important when you are travelling. Regardless of whether you’re a hard-core sun worshipper and love to sun bathe, or if you prefer the likes of the umbrella and shade, SPF should be a staple when you are travelling. You will thank yourself in years to come when you are still wrinkle free thanks to the work of your SPF.

Face sunscreen:

This is a great face sunscreen, ideal for those with sensitive skin as it is a favourite among dermatologisits and doesn’t contain perfume allowing the skin to breathe without clogging pores. It is also available in tinted colours if you prefer a little coverage.

Perfect if you are on more of a budget, this sunscreen offers a high SPF and is extremely moisturising. It also claims to prevent skin aging through fine lines and wrinkles.

Breakouts

For those that suffer from problematic skin and often get breakouts, travelling could be a bit of a nightmare when keeping your skincare routine in check. When you are staying at various hostels and constantly on the move, skin care may seem like less of a priority, but try to work your skincare routine in to your day to day routine so keep pesky spots at bay.

There’s no need to pack a million products because not only is it going to weigh down your bag, but it also isn’t realistic that you will use every product everyday because your days can be very busy and hectic when travelling.

Micellar water: this is such a quick and easy way to cleanse your face after being in the heat all day. All you need is some cotton pads which are luckily extremely lightweight and will easily fit in your bag.

Sudocrem: Easily bought from many pharmacies, drugstores and supermarkets. This affordable product can be a real life saver when travelling. Not only is it great for spots, it can also be used on sun burn and cuts and grazes.

Makeup

The decision whether to bring makeup with you when you go travelling is entirely down to the person and their preference. In scorching heat, the majority would understandably chose to go makeup free, but if that isn’t for you there are options.

BB cream:

This can be a great product to use if you prefer having some coverage and colour on your face. A lot of the time it feels just like moisturiser and is extremely light weight making it ideal for travelling.

As well as providing light coverage, this BB cream is also SPF 20 so can be a great product to pack.

Moisturiser

Of course the weather can really affect your skin, the sun can leave your face feeling dehydrated and tight and the cold can have an equally negative affect leaving your skin dry.

The Body Shop vitamin E moisturiser:

This leaves your face looking fresh and brings moisture back to the skin. Its small size and plastic (rather than glass) packaging make it ideal for travelling.

Coconut oil can be so useful so if you have room in your bag, definitely consider bringing some with you. Either raw coconut oil in a jar or a body lotion with coconut oil in it will do the trick and can be used all over your body and even in your hair leaving you with smooth replenished skin. A useful tip is to double up its uses and use it as a cleanser to remove any makeup and to clean your face, rather than bringing a separate cleanser and bulking up your toiletries bag.

Hair

Often hair + the sun don't make a great combination. The sun can be extremely drying for your hair, leaving it in need of a bit of tlc. I highly recommend taking some sort of moisturising product and like I said before, if you need to cut down and pack light , invest in some coconut oil and use it for both moisturising your skin, cleansing your face and using it as a hair mask to bring some life back to you hair. Not only is this going to ensure you pack lighter, but its going to save you money on what could have been three separate products.

Styling:

If you're tired of throwing your hair up in a top knot or pony, why not go for some beachy waves. So easily achieved, wash your hair and brush it through and put it in one or two plaits whilst its still wet. When you wake up, in-do the plaits and you should find your hair in effortless waves.
