Exciting city of Rotterdam

Rotterdam is a major port city in the South of Holland and possibly one of the busiest and liveliest cities I have visited.
The city is well on its way to being one of the most modernised and technologically advanced places I have seen. Sky scrapers take main stage as most of the buildings tower over the pavements. Most of the roads are taken over by cyclists, and limited cars, with more cycle lanes than roads.
We took an overnight ferry to get to this bustling city from Hull port. For those that don't like the idea of being on a ferry for that length of time, taking a flight is always an option. We decided to go with P&O ferries, which I would definitely recommend, not too expensive and the facilities on the ferry were great. Restaurants, bars, shops, live entertainment and a piano lounge, you certainly can't get bored.
When we arrived the first thing that became clear was how far behind England is when it comes to technology and just general modernising of buildings. The streets were lined with what seemed like hundreds of shops, perfect for a shopping spree if your purse allows it. Another positive of travelling on a ferry was that it didn't matter if we went a little crazy when shopping because we didn't have to take it back on a plane.
One thing to be mindful of is that although it is a lovely city, with plenty of buzz, there isn’t a great deal of things to do. It’s perfect for a day or weekend visit as you most likely wont run out of things to see and do.
If you are looking for a quiet and peaceful city break, Rotterdam isn’t the place for you. It is busy and full of fun things to do, whether you just fancy exploring, checking out the sites or doing a spot of retail therapy.
