Hostelworld has an App for travellers to download, where they can create a personalised wish lists of what they want form a hostel. The App also allows you to access your booking offline, meaning that when you’re without wifi, you can access all of your check in information. Hostelworld also offers free cancellation for your booking if you cancel seven days in advance which is also a bonus.

Booking.com is a great site to use, as you can see all the different types of accommodation in the area that you want to stay. This includes hostels, apartments and hotels. The site also has reviews from other travellers, so that you can read an honest opinion of what the accommodation is like – most of us have experienced seeing a hostel or hotel online that looks nice, however, when arriving looks completely different to the pictures online! A lot of the accommodation on booking.com is cheaper than competitor sites, and you can often get the bet price here.

Hostelbookers

Hostelbookers is known for being cheaper than hostel world, however, offering a similar service. The main different between the two is that hostelbookers offers hotel accommodation as well as hostels, but primarily hostels. The site also has a travel blog where you can read up on different accommodation in different cities, as well as a Facebook page where you can hear about all the latest offers and cheapest prices on accommodation.

Airbnb

Airbnb allows you to book a room, an entire flat, or an entire house in different cities. Sometimes booking an apartment for one-night works out as being cheaper than staying in a hostel or hotel. If you haven’t used the site before, when you sign up you are given a free £25 gift card to put toward your first booking. This can be very helpful in subsidising the cost of different accommodation. If you are travelling with a friend, you can each sign up to a new account and both receive £25, making it cheaper on two occasions to book through the site.

The best thing about travelsupermarket is that the site allows you to compare all of the different prices for a hotel that are available on the internet. This means that you are guaranteed to get the cheapest price for a hotel. The only downside of using the site is that it is for hotels only and you can’t book hostels through the site. However, if you fancy going upmarket for just one night which a lot do after staying in basic hostels for weeks on end, then this is the site to use in order to get the best price.
