When you are going travelling, packing can be tricky. You have limited space if you are taking a backpack and over-packing only leads to a bad back. However, not only do you have your backpack, you also have your hand luggage.
Flights – especially long-haul flights, can be exhausting and draining, so bringing a few home comforts can do the world of good. Here are my top 5 essentials to pop in your hand luggage:
1. Headphones: These are a must. They might give you their headphones, but they tend to be those bulky ones that hurt your ears and get in the way when you’re trying to snooze. Bring your own so you know you have them there, even if you don’t use them. You will also most likely want them for long bus or train journeys whilst you are travelling.

2. Hoodie: Planes tend to get a bit cold, so having this to snuggle in and feel cosy and warm whilst you fly will not only comfort you but will also come in handy when you need to use it as a cushion on other transportation when you get to your destination.

3. Water: It’s really important to stay hydrated so make sure you pop in to a shop in the airport to grab yourself some water or a selection of drinks to keep you hydrated on your flight.

4. Toothbrush and toothpaste: If you are on a long flight and have been munching on plane food or snacks of your choosing, you will probably want to freshen your mouth before you land.

5. Book or magazines: Yes, there might be a tv. However, a good book or gossip mag will keep you entertained when your eyes are sick of looking at a screen.
